Unprecented Update....

Tim's Heart

I am here to report that Stacy is now walking without a walker, wheelchair or cane.  I have quit throwing up and can now cough and sneeze with confidence.  Now, the rest of the story.

I got the flu right in the middle of a two part stress test.  This is the test they give you where you are injected with a foreign substance and they try to induce a heart attack by running you at full speed on a treadmill set at the Mt. Everest incline.  Except this time, they decided to induce the stress with chemicals.

On the Friday before Vomitfest '09 I did the "stressed" part of the test.  I was scheduled to do part 2 the following Monday.  However, thanks to a certain nursing home, I came down with the flu and ended up being hospitalized over the weekend.  So, I eventually took part two on Wednesday morning.

Later that afternoon I got a call from my cardiologist's nurse saying I needed to come in as they found an "abnormalitiy" in the results of the test.  Stacy and I went in last Friday and I got the news that I knew would eventually come but hoped not quite this soon.  There was a problem with the baked potato in my chest where a normal person's heart would be.

The test showed that when my heart was stressed,  blood flow to the bottom of my heart stopped getting blood.  The doctor, whom I love like someone who as saved my life, said I probably had some sort of blockage and I would need to have a "heart catheterization" done.  I go in the hospital this Thursday for the procedure at 10.  He said that I should plan on staying overnight.  I said that would be great, just enough time to make out a "bucket list".

So, if I have ever had anything you wanted, now is the time to lay claim to it.  Just kidding.  I may get a balloon or a stent and that will be that.  It wouldn't be much fun without some drama.  I guess we don't really need to discuss the "worst" case scenario.  Maybe next week.

By the way, our insurance is so sh***y that we will be having bake sales every weekend the rest of the year.

I have broken into a cold sweat writing this so I'm going to go hose off and go on about my Saturday activities.

That is all, Peters out!
